Be the Helping Hand Our Community Needs

At ICAN, we believe that neighbors should never have to face hardship alone. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do—whether it's distributing food, organizing donations, offering a kind word or simply showing up with compassion and consistency.

Why Volunteer with ICAN?

Communities across Indianapolis—including Irvington—are experiencing a sharp rise in economic hardship. Inflation has driven up the cost of food, utilities, and other basic needs, while poverty rates continue to climb. For many families, seniors, and individuals, everyday essentials have become out of reach.

At the same time, critical federal funding for food assistance programs is being reduced, and the landscape for public and private grants has grown increasingly competitive. These shifts place significant strain on small, community-based nonprofits like ICAN, even as the demand for services continues to grow. Despite these challenges, ICAN remains committed to meeting urgent needs through our food access, housing advocacy, and neighborhood outreach initiatives. To continue this essential work, we are seeking increased support from local business partners.

Your volunteer support strengthens the very fabric of our community. Together, we can ensure that every neighbor has access to the support, resources, and dignity they deserve.
